Sydney’s scenic Cahill Expressway will be transformed into the ELEVATE Sydney Festival for a week of live entertainment.

Starting on New Years Day, thirty thousand free tickets will be available for patrons to enjoy the beautiful Sydney Harbour and Circular Quay whilst surrounded by live music from some of the country’s biggest names. The festival will host more than 180 artists including Tones And I, Baker Boy, Electric Fields and even The Wiggles!

ELEVATE Sydney Festival is a NSW Government initiative that will transform the harbourside expressway into an ongoing day and night event for people of all ages.

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet says the event will help to revive the spirit of the city, reminding the world why tourists travel from across the world to experience Sydney’s lifestyle. “Nowhere else could you hold this kind of event, nowhere has our harbour, our setting or our weather – this is part of our ongoing vision for taking our city from good to great” said the Premier.

ELEVATE Sydney Festival is part of the NSW Government’s plan to support recovery and showcase the state to the world by offering Sydneysiders and visitors the chance to experience several entertainment options including pop, disco, musical theatre, First Nations genres, family, sport, and youth activities.

Perrottet says, “This has been a tough time for hospitality and tourism, we’re committed to doing everything we can to get these industries back on their feet and ensuring that our people have the chance to enjoy the city again.”

The event will also host the largest drone show in the Southern Hemisphere. The Skyshow will feature 500 choreographed drones over Sydney Cove as a natural amphitheatre in a beautiful light display. The show is described to tell a powerful story of Sydney’s past, present and hopes for 2022.

ELEVATE Sydney will run from January 1st-6th, 2022 and tickets are available from December 2nd 2021.

The Cahill Expressway will be closed to traffic and pedestrians during ELEVATE Sydney, with alternative routes and public transport options available for visitors and residents.
